I see costume design as a collaborative experience between designer, director and actors. My work brings characters to life and gives me great empathy for all types of people. It is energizing and exciting to create characters from the page, and learn about both history and humanity through clothing.

My work has taken me all over the country and am happy to work in both theatre and film design. Past designs have included theatres in DC (Studio Theatre, Forum Theatre, Imagination Stage), NYC (New World Stages, Signature Theatre, Theatre Row), Milwaukee (Skylight Music Theatre), and Charlotte (Children’s Theatre of Charlotte). Chicago credits include Gift Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Strawdog, Windy City Playhouse, Victory Gardens, and Steppenwolf. I am head of the MFA of Costume Design and Technology at the University of South Carolina.
